We are relaunching our DIA Discovery Centre

The DIA Discovery Centre is a one-stop role-reversal experiential learning environment that will not only have the renowned Dialogue in the Dark tour, but also, for the very first time in Malaysia, Dialogue in Silence, Dialogue Games and Dialogue with Time.

This Discovery Centre will also host the all new DIA Arts Café, featuring works of arts by the Autistic and other disabled artists in our nation. If we are successful in building this Discovery Centre, it will be the 3rd in the world after Hamburg and Tokyo—the 1st in ASEAN.

To relaunch, rebrand, and rebuild the all new DIA Discovery Centre, we are raising RM2.5 million through crowdfunding pay-it-forward tickets and equity pitching on two platforms respectively: theincitement.com and mystartr.com.

The concept of Dialogue in the Dark is simple, visitors are led  in groups by blind guides through specially constructed dark rooms where scent, sound, wind, temperature and texture convey the characteristics of daily environments—a park, a city, a boat cruise or a bar. Daily routines become a new experience.

A reversal of roles is created: people who can see are taken out of their familiar environments. Blind people provide them with security and a sense of orientation by transmitting to them a world without pictures. The tour itself lasts 45 minutes but the experience can last a lifetime.

The concept has proven effective. Over the last twenty years, Since its opening in 1988, Dialogue in the Dark has been presented throughout the world in over 30 countries and 130 cities. More than 10 million visitors worldwide have experienced Dialogue in the Dark and thousands of blind guides and trainers have found employment through it.
